What this service includes
A comprehensive evaluation of the skills required for safe driving, which may include:
  • Clinical assessment of vision, cognition, reaction time, and physical abilities
  • Review of medical history and driving concerns
  • On-road driving evaluation when appropriate
Outcomes may include
  • Recommendations for continued driving with or without training
  • Strategies to improve safety and confidence
  • Adaptive equipment recommendations
  • Referrals to therapy or other supportive services
  • Guidance around transitioning away from driving when appropriate

Adaptive Driving Evaluation & Training

  • Evaluation of physical access, strength, range of motion, and coordination
  • Assessment of appropriate adaptive equipment such as hand controls, left-foot accelerators, adaptive seating, or vehicle access solutions
  • On-road training using recommended adaptive equipment

  • Training to safely use adaptive controls

Driver Readiness Evaluation & One-on-One Training

  • Teen or adult drivers with learning differences
  • Individuals with attention, processing, or anxiety-related challenges
  • Drivers who have struggled in traditional driver education settings

  • Evaluation of readiness for learning to drive

Bioptic Driving Evaluation & Training

 
Who this service is for
  • Individuals with reduced visual acuity who may qualify to drive using bioptic lenses
What this service includes
  • Evaluation of readiness for learning to drive
  • On-road assessment and training using bioptic systems
  • Education on safe and appropriate use of bioptic devices
Outcomes may include
  • Determination of bioptic driving readiness
  • Training to safely integrate bioptic use into driving
  • Documentation and guidance as required by state regulations

Consultation, Referrals & Transition Planning

 
Not every evaluation results in an immediate return to driving — and that’s okay.
 
When someone is not ready or no longer able to safely drive, we provide
  • Clear explanations of evaluation findings
  • Referrals to occupational therapy, physical therapy, vision therapy, or other services
  • Guidance on next steps and future re-evaluation
  • Support for families navigating difficult conversations and transitions
