We are looking for a dynamic and positive Driving Instructor with their NH provisional or NH standard driver education certificate with experience working with teenagers and young adults with disabilities and a good knowledge of traffic safety.  This unique and rewarding role offers the opportunity to work with young adults with developmental and learning disabilities who want to pursue driving.  

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct in car driver education and tutoring to prepare clients for driver licensing and promote good driving habits
• Implement personalized driver training plans, complete documentation and provide continuous communication with the Align team members, family members, medical providers and state licensing agencies.
• Maintain licensure through participating in continuing education courses
• Ability to maintain positive client interactions and provide effective feedback
• Assist clients with managing anxiety and building self-confidence

Qualifications

• Computer skills –ability to schedule clients, document client progress, word, excel, electronic medical record experience or ability to learn
• Calm, positive and enthusiastic personality
• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Efficient time management skills and accountability
• Ability to work independently and have good organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively connect with teenagers and young adults
• 2-5 years’ experience (will consider a provisional certificate)
• Current valid NH driver’s license in good standing

We are seeking a NH Licensed Occupational Therapist or related health care professional who is willing to become certified as a NH Driving Instructor and a Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist with experience working with people with physical, cognitive, and developmental disabilities as well as experience with the aging population and how this may affect someone’s ability to drive.    

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct clinical and behind-the-wheel driving evaluations
• Develop and implement personalized driver training plans and communication with the Align Driver Rehab team, family members, and state licensing agencies.
• Make evidence-based recommendations, to assist with the licensing process, return to driving after a medical event or assist with retirement from driving, outcomes are based on each client’s individual needs.
• Complete state-specific documentation with licensing and funding agencies
• Provide guidance on adaptive driving equipment and vehicle modifications (CDRS position)
• Ability to maintain positive client interactions and provide effective feedback
• Provide timely and accurate documentation

Qualifications

• Computer skills – ability to type, proficient with adobe, word, excel, electronic medical record experience or ability to learn
• Calm, positive and enthusiastic personality
• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Efficient time management skills
• Ability to work independently
• Organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively connect with clients across the life span, abilities and backgrounds.
• 2-5 years of occupational therapy experience
• Current valid NH driver’s license in good standing
• Certification as a Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (CDRS, DRP, or DRS)
• Experience conducting clinical pre-driving evaluations or experience in the field of driver rehabilitation a bonus.
• Willingness to become a NH Driving Instructor and Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (training and mentorship and financial assistance available)
